Why we exist

A small shop with a very long memory for people's occasions.

We are an independent bakery on Churchyard in Hitchin, tucked beside St Mary's. Every cake that leaves us is bespoke, baked and finished by the same small team, and quoted honestly on size, style and the hours the decoration really takes.

We have iced first birthdays and then their weddings. That is the part of this we care about most, and it is why we still make everything on the premises rather than buying it in.

Find a cake

Describe the cake in your head. We will show you ours.

Type the occasion, the person and the mood. Every cake in our gallery is tagged by style, so the closest matches come back in a second.

The chocolate counter

Hand made chocolates, tempered on the marble at Churchyard.

Alongside the cakes we make truffles, salted caramels, filled slabs and foil wrapped novelties by hand. Boxes are put together to order, so you can choose the fillings, the ribbon and the size, whether it is a thank you gift, a wedding favour or a corporate order.

  • Truffle and praline gift boxes
  • Salted caramel and fruit slabs
  • Wedding favours and table gifts
  • Seasonal Easter and Christmas ranges

How we work

Four steps, and a person on the end of the phone throughout.

  1. Step 1

    Tell us the occasion

A short note about the day, the people and the flavours you love. No brief is too rough.

  2. Step 2

    Design and taste

We sketch the cake and, for weddings, sit you down with a tasting box before anything is agreed.

  3. Step 3

    Made by hand

Baked, filled and finished in the shop on Churchyard, in the week of your date.

  4. Step 4

    Delivered and set

Collect from us, or let us deliver and set the cake in place so it is right when you walk in.
